Wow...I finally finished this piece. This is my entry for "The Forgotten" contest on #nintendo-fc. The objective was to take a "forgotten" Nintendo game and do a piece for it.
Originally, I had thought to do Earthbound, since that's literally my favorite game of all time, but someone had already done that, and I wanted to do something different than everyone else. My next thought was to do a piece for Eternal Darkness, since next to nobody knows about that game and it's my favorite survival-horror game, but I couldn't find enough good reference pics for that one. I then started to think back to old NES games I used to play, and all of a sudden, a really old, virtually unknown game popped into my head: Kickle Cubicle. Thus, I decided I would do a piece based on that game. And this is the result.
My goal in making this piece was to take a whole slew of images from the game, throw them all together into one giant picture, and update the look of them all; that is, I wanted to make them look virtually the same, but since the images are all pixelated, I wanted to update the look of them and make them more modern and sleek. And I think I did pretty well on that.
Every single thing on here (except for the gradient background, anyway), was completely drawn from scratch, and hand-colored and shaded. Again, apart from the rainbow gradient in the background, nothing was altered digitally; no filters, no embossing, no nothing. Even the little logo in the corner was hand-drawn (though, I admit that I did digitally add a drop shadow to that after I was done with it so that it would stand out a little more...and only one of those ice blocks is actually the "original", so to speak; I just copy and pasted the rest of them...so sue me).
But yeah...I'm pretty proud of this, honestly, since I don't do a lot of serious digital painting/drawing, and I completed this whole thing and made it look pretty darn good, if I do say so myself. So yeah. You should all be in awe. Haha, just kidding.
Oh, and would you believe there's only like, 7 KC deviations on here? Ridiculous. We should all do something about that.

It's so sad that they never made gameboy or ds versions of this, I woulda loved it. Have to get my NES out everytime I want to play >.< This is so cute and I'm glad people remember Kickle :3 No one I know have a clue what this game is
